Visas:
Citizens from EU countries, Canada and the U.S. do not need a visa to visit Sweden.  However, the Swedish government requires visas for visitors from several countries, including China, India and Turkey.  For a full list and information regarding obtaining a visa, click here.  Sweden has been party to the Schengen Agreement since 2001. Under the Agreement, the Schengen countries have common visa rules.  Applications for visas to Sweden are made at a Swedish embassy.  For information on location of Swedish embassies, please consult the Swedish Consular web-site.

Ground Transportation:
From Arlanda Airport, take the Arlanda Express train to Stockholm Central Station.  Tickets are available online and there are discounts available on week-ends, sometimes also including Thursday and Friday.  The trip takes 20 minutes without stops and the train stops at the Central Station.  It is a 15 minute walk to Clarion Sign and taxis are available right outside the doors.  Directions Arlanda Express to Clarion Sign

Note that the To-Do guide includes ideas for 24 hour, 48 hour, and 72 hour tours of Stockholm.  For example, the 24 hour tour suggests that you visit: City Hall, the Vasa Museum, the Royal Castle, Old Town, the Stockholm Cathedral, Fjallgatan, and that you take a Boat Tour.

Currency:
The currency in Sweden is Swedish Krona (SEK).  Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club cards are widely accepted. You’re better off using a credit card since exchange rates are better and transaction fees are avoided. Electronic debit cards can be used in most shops. You can withdraw Swedish Kronor using your ATM/Cash card at ATMs/Cash machines at Arlanda airport and in the City.

Language:
The official language in Sweden is Swedish, but pretty much everyone speaks English fluently.

Weather:
August is the end of summer in Sweden and the days are getting shorter.  The sun will rise at 5:10 am and sets at 8:30pm i Stockholm during the EFA meetings.  The temperature in Stockholm in August typically ranges from +20C to +11C.  Average monthly hours of sunshine is 250 and average monthly rainfall is 78mm.  It is always a good idea to bring a light jacket and an umbrella.
