Members and friends of the European Finance Association are welcome to submit research papers to be considered for presentation at the 2011 Annual Meetings.  Papers on any topic related to finance will be considered.  Papers should be submitted electronically.

Sorry, papers for the EFA 2011 are no longer accepted.  We received a record 1,600 submissions this year.

In addition to the regular program there will be two special sessions on Household Finance co-organized with the Institute for Financial Research (SIFR).  Authors interested in having their papers considered for these special sessions should make sure to indicate that their topic is “Household Finance” when submitting their manuscript.  Note that the submission deadline has been extended to March 1, 2011, for these sessions.

The European Central Bank (ECB) will also sponsor a few sessions on Systemic Risk and Macro-prudential Oversight, including empirical and theoretical macro-financial models with realistic characterizations of financial instability and models of systemic risk using non-standard approaches (e.g. agent-based models, econophysics, and psychology).  Authors interested in having their papers considered for these special sessions should either submit under “Systemic Risk” which is a listed topic for all tracks, or submit under the topic “Macro-prudential Oversight” which is a topic in the “Other” track.

Papers will be reviewed anonymously by two members of the Program Committee, and authors will be notified of the Program Committee’s decisions in April 2011.  The final program will be available in May, 2011.  We are delighted to announce the following Best Paper Awards (subject to changes):

SAC Capital Advisors Best Conference Paper Award €3,000
Nordea Best Corporate Finance Paper Award €3,000
Commonfund Best Paper on Foundation and Endowment Asset Management  Award €3,000

The paper submission fee (pre-registration fee) is €60.00 plus VAT (21%) for regular submitters, and €40.00 plus VAT (21%) for verified doctoral students (see instructions for requirements).   In addition to covering manuscript processing costs, the submission fee includes European Finance Association membership for 2011 and a one-year subscription (four issues) of The Review of Finance.  Submissions by doctoral students exclusively to the Doctoral Tutorial is free of charge.  Please consult the Doctoral Tutorial page for important instructions.

Authors submitting to the main conference (Regular Submitters), as well as Doctoral Students who want their papers to be considered for the main conference, should submit an abstract as well as a .pdf file of the entire manuscript.  Do not submit more than one paper. You may be an author on more than one submission provided that a coauthor submits it for you.

In order to keep the reviewing process anonymous, we request that all authors remove references to their identities in submitted manuscripts.  If you have already submitted your paper, and did not remove your identity, we will scrub your manuscript for you to ensure anonymity.
